Required skills: no prior experience with porcelain is necessary, but a basic understanding of ceramics is required. As you will be working with thicknesses of up to 1.5–2 mm, manual dexterity and precision are essential.
Class schedule:
– On the first day, the lesson runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
– On the second day, the lesson runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m
– On the third day, the lesson runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Introduction:
The only clay that allows the reproduction of the ultra-thin thicknesses of flower petals and the sinuous tangles of climbing plants is porcelain. The course aims to teach a methodology that enables students to create, in series, ultra-thin stylized flowers in unglazed porcelain, both white and colored, with connecting botanical elements. As the various elements are modular, when combined on the wall, they will form a three-dimensional floral tapestry, a dynamic wall installation that is easy to install and customizable at will.
Program:
– First day from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Creation of different stylized modular porcelain flowers starting from pressed porcelain slabs in plaster molds. Finishing the petals using various texturizing techniques and decoration with slips.
– Second day from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Creation of supports that enable wall mounting of the flowers. Production of modular botanical elements to connect to the flowers. Modeling a mother form in clay shaped like a flower of your own design, from which to create a silicon mould. Creation of the silicon mould. Loading the porcelain elements onto the kiln shelfs to understand techniques for preventing deformation. The pieces will then be fired overnight.
– Third day in the morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Opening of the kiln and assembly of the flowers with their supports and re-firing in the kiln. Creation of the plaster mould from the silicon mould. Production of small clay stamps of your own design to create textures in the petals.
– Third day in the afternoon from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Opening the kiln and discussion of the results.
