ABOUT ME

Born in Turin in 1969, I have lived in Florence for several years now, a city that has attracted me since I was a child. I graduated in graphic design, a field I pursued more out of compromise than passion, as it was the closest to the world of art that my parents could approve of. Therefore, my first work experience was as a graphic designer. However, thanks to a series of fortunate coincidences, I was able to leave this path early to join a theater workshop, where I worked as a sculptor creating masks and prosthetic effects for opera. This experience, which lasted more than ten years and saw me collaborating with some of the most prestigious Italian lyric institutions, deeply influenced the aesthetic language I use in my ceramics. In these works, my passion for ornamentation and theatricality clearly emerges. To fully dedicate myself to ceramics and turn this passion into a profession, I left my job in the theater and moved to France for a year to study porcelain craftsmanship. At the time, low-temperature ceramics like maiolica were the most widespread in Italy. After returning to Italy, I devoted myself full-time to ceramics, choosing porcelain as my expressive material. Over the years, I have often changed the subjects, styles, and techniques used to create my pieces: I moved from functional objects to sculpture, and even to jewelry, always favoring porcelain but also incorporating resin and metals. I also introduced goldsmithing techniques and electroforming. My interest in experimenting with techniques and materials, and the joy that comes from it, has always taken precedence over the intention of producing pieces for exhibitions. This is why my career as a ceramicist is characterized by my intense teaching activity. Currently, after a long period focusing on porcelain jewelry, I have returned to sculpture. In my new works, I have combined the skills I acquired over the years to create personal interpretations of still life in porcelain and metal.
